Bem-vindo ao The Place at Evoramonte.
Temos tanta sorte.

Talking of restaurants, the food provided by Mitch is excellent.

Unfortunately we only had 18 hours to enjoy one of the four very comfortable, warmly decorated rooms. Enjoyed the spectacular sunset from our own terrace, delicious dinner (crispy pizza and duck with pumpkin) and a good breakfast (loved the fresh local cheese).
Had wanted to stay longer because there is a lot to do and see in the area. Vicki can tell you everything about it and there is lots to read in the cozy communal lounge.
Come to Evoramonte. Enjoy the unrivaled view, the silence, three Portuguese local shops, a walk on the castle wall and a beer & chat with Mitch & Vicki. Do it now before Evoramonte becomes the next Monsaraz ... Will be back soon 🙂

We stayed at The Place for a couple of nights in September. It was the best place we stayed during our extensive tour of the Alentajo. Our hosts... read more Vicki and Mitch went out of their way to make us feel welcome and gave us great tips on interesting places to visit. Estremoz has an vibrant market and Monseraz is worth a visit but is very touristy although there is a nice beach nearby with swimming in the reservoir. But the star of the show is The Place itself. We had room 4 which is a self-contained unit with large open plan bedroom/bathroom and a kitchen (not used ,Vicki's breakfast are lavish). The views from our terrace were spectacular and stretched about 40k into the far distance. In fact, we could lie in bed and enjoy the same vista ! Our first visit to Alentejo was a great success - a million miles from the crowds of the Algarve - this is the 'real' Portugal. Thank you Vicki and Mitch. We'll be back.

Vicki and Mitch were the PERFECT hosts during our recent visit for a long weekend. The hotel’s food, facilities and location are also perfect.
The hotel... read more is an easy one and a half hour’s drive from Lisbon airport. Quickly leaving the hustle and bustle of the big city behind, it was a delight to be in the peace and quiet of a small village in the Alentejo on a hill top with commanding views of the surrounding countryside. Indeed, the views from our room, as well as the hotel’s terrace and roof-top, are amazing. We were excited to be able to see a shooting-star one evening.
Vicki provided great tips on places to visit in the local area and a handy map. Evora and Monsaraz in particular stand out. Vicki also organised for us to visit an organic winery - Herdade dos Outeiros Altos. Here we saw the wine being made in huge clay pots (talhas) and were able to sample their range of excellent white, red and rose wines.
The hotel is a haven of peace and tranquility. The hosts offer great breakfasts and evening meals. Mitch makes truly delightful fare - whether duck, pizzas or hamburgers. The cafe also provides lunch.
We cannot recommend the hotel and our hosts highly enough. We can’t wait to return!

26/01/2020BornreporterA little bit of heaven - This is a special place. With spectacular views, all the creature comforts and wonderful hosts, The Place is one of the finest traveling experiences I have had. We stayed three... read more nights and used it as a jumping off points to see this lovely part of the Alentejo region including historic Evora, Estermoz (go to the tile museum and the Saturday market) and a personal tour of a cork factory. While there are plenty of places to have great authentic Portugese food a short drive away we chose to have Mitch's dinners on the picnic tables overlooking one of the most beautiful views imaginable. There were spectacular sunsets and good wines and great desserts. The rooms also have views and are perfectly appointed. We were there in spring and the weather was perfect. But if you're there in the summer, the rooms have great air conditioning, not a small detail when traveling in southern Europe!!!!!
